If only we knew…

Do you know how many battles the Holy Spirit has fought for you?

Do you know from how much pain He has kept you from?

Do you know  how many accidents He spared you?

Do you know from how many humiliation He has kept you ?

Do you know from how many accusation He has defended you ?

Do you know how many tears He kept you from shedding?

Do you only know my Friend?

Do you?

A Giant Leap of Faith

There are times, in your relationship with God, you have to take a leap of faith.

God is faithful, He always keeps his promises. So when He says I am going do something, He will do it, no matter how much time it takes.

In the meantime, you might have two enemies: doubt and desperation.

When you see that time is passing by and nothing is happening, this is when you start to doubt, when you doubt, you start having a negative mind set, and then you start losing faith in the promise.

The second thing is desperation. Do not become desperate. Things might not happen when you expected it to but God has an amazing plan for your life and you should trust Him no matter what.

God might want to test your faith, so you must at all time believe He can. Take a giant leap of feat in your life. Let God do it His own way.

God is the God of Possible.  In Him, there is no disappointment.

Stay blessed!

Give Him your All

I was talking to my mom today about God’s blessings for my life and she told me: He can do more, what don’t you to let go to Him?

What don’t you let go to Him? That phrase got stuck in my head because I realize that I was not giving God my all.

Even though I am trying to become closer to Him each day, trying to pray more often, I do not give everything.

God do not want a part of me, He wants my all, He wants me to surrender to Him, He wants my problems to become His, He wants to carry my burdens, to erase my doubts. But how He is going to do that if I am keeping things to myself?

He is not going to force me to give up everything, instead He wants it to be a personal act, a free offering of myself, the same way Jesus offered himself on the cross. Jesus was not forced, He had the choice, he might have choose to let us die in our sins, but He didn’t, he cared enough to give his all.

Today, I urge you to give your all to God. It’s not going to happen in one day, as we have learned to live by counting solely upon ourselves. But if God wants to carry all my burden, why hold back? Does society have more to offer? If his plan for my life is far better than my greatest objectives, why hesitate?

“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,  to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”

Ephesians 3:20

When are you going to get married?

Where is the man?

What are you waiting for?

Don’t wait too long.

You need a boyfriend.

Is anyone courting you?

Those are the questions and remarks I received nowadays . People wants to know when I am taking the big step. And some of them find it awkward that I am still single.

Yes, I am single  and no, I am not going to get married next month.

I’m wondering why people think that the clock is ticking for me while I think I still have the time?

You can NEVER please society. It’s utopia. Forget about it. You’ll go crazy.

It’s that kind of social pressure that cause marital disaster. Everyone is rushing when they should take time to prepare themselves for such venture.

It’s marriage people! I know that marriage is becoming less and less valued in today’s society but for some people, it’s a SACRED INSTITUTION.

God created marriage for a sacred purpose and with its many implication, we cannot rush into it however we want.

Maybe I have an idealistic view of marriage, I admit it, maybe because I am a romantic person, but none the less, as you are learning, studying and preparing to start a business venture you should also prepare for marriage the same way.

Yayy! She finally got one!

Of course, I want someone by my side (who doesn’t?) but I’m saying to myself: Take Your Time and no,  I am not going to lower my standards in order to find someone to get married.

Because of the huge respect I have for marriage, I am willing to take the necessary time to build a strong foundation for my future home.

If they could grant me one wish for my sentimental life, it would be to have a strong and lasting relationship with my partner.

And I believe that singleness is a period where one should reflect about what they really want, about their expectations and also the time where you achieve some of your goals because when you end up with a family, it’s sometimes difficult to cope with everything.

So, as I patiently (not all the times!) wait for the “One” ( according to God’s will),  I am working on myself to be that wonderful woman that a man would want in his life.

“If you want to attract a king, you must first learn how to be a queen.”

God wants sustainability

I am working for a non-profit organization and one of the most important criteria required for a project to be approved is sustainability. The project must be able to run on the long term. The organization must be sure that the project won’t stop whether or not they are still supporting it.

And also, they must know that the project will be receiving other funding and not rely solely on them.

This is exactly the way God wants to work with us. When we present our project to God, He must know that we will be able to continue and endure on the long term.

God is willing to help us but He wants to make sure that we will not break our promises and abandon Him along the way or give up.

Not only you must rely on God but you must also take actions. God is not going to do all the work for you. You must add your own strength, capacity and knowledge to what God is giving you in order to make things happen.

For example, you want to be promoted at work and you have asked for God’s help, but you are still not getting any answer. Ask yourself:

First: will you be able to take your responsibilities and be a leader? Will you be able to take your work to a new level? Aren’t you going to quit?

Second: do you have the required qualifications? Have you updated your knowledge? Have you taken additional courses that can help you in your new position?

Yes, if you want God to help you, you must be prepared. God is not going to give you something if He knows that you are going to ruin it.

Ask God to give you strength and determination to take your responsibilities. Take Action, don’t let God do all the work.

Keep going further and don’t give up!

My two biggest mistakes

I have always lived and planned for the future, what I mean is all my objectives, all that I want to do are to be done in the future.  I want to have a car (in the future), I want to travel ( in the future) I want to write a book ( in the future) so what I failed to understand is that the future was in fact…yesterday.

Yes, by always projecting myself in the future, I have lost sight of what is important: live in the present.  The present moment is exactly where things are happening, where dreams come true, where objectives are accomplished.  I had that wrong idea that everything would be perfect in the future, everything would be settled, I would have the perfect job, the car, the house, etc etc…. but the fact is while I am dreaming of those things, I have failed to do what was important: work toward those goals in the present.  I didn’t thought that the future that I am talking about will slip away if I am not taking time to live in the present. I have forgotten that the NOW is all we’ve got. Who knows what will happen tomorrow (we ain’t psychics), only God knows.  We do not hold tomorrow, we only hold the present moment.

As I’ll be celebrating a new year soon, I come to rethink the way I live and my point of view about life. I want to enjoy every single moment, seize the opportunity when it comes and not wait for things to get perfect. I want to get rid of the old thinking and enjoy the life God has given me, not scarcely but plentifully (lovely word, isn’t it? 😉  )

Ok, the second mistake is that  I have that difficulty to finish what I start and it’s a burden in my personal life. I was in Spanish class, I quit for false reasons. I was learning how to drive, I quit for false reasons.  I am a fanatic of the saying: Never give up, but I seem to have a hard time practicing it.  I have thought about it and what I need is self-discipline. I know what I want, and where I want to go but I just need to follow the road and not skip to the next U-turn.

I wrote up earlier that I was going to celebrate a new year, I’m turning 24 in a few days and I really want to take some time for me, rethink my priorities, a bit like a reset time. So do you have some suggestions about how I could celebrate? Your comments are welcome.

What are your spiritual gifts?

Google image

People always tend to search for the personality type and focus on the overall traits of their personality but did you ever wonder what is your spiritual gift? God has given each of us one or several spiritual gift and it belongs to us to discover it and put it to work for the ministry.

” There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them.  There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord.  There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyoneit is the same God at work.

Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines. ” 1 Corinthians 12: 4-11

I urge you today to find what is your spiritual gift, it will be a great start if you are willing to help others and serve the ministry of the Lord.  Pray God and ask Him to reveal your gift to you, analyze yourself and see what you are good at, what you love to do.

For instance, I found that I am a giver and a helper, which is absolutely true, by taking an online test. Here are my results:

Your two highest gifts :
GIVER: That special ability to contribute material resources to God’s work. The giver has a great desire to liberally share time, talent and treasures with self-sacrificing cheerfulness (Rom. 12:8; II Cor. 8:1-7, 9:12).

HELPER: That special ability to do service-oriented work for God in necessary tasks that may seem routine and mundane. The helper usually enjoys serving without public attention, doing such tasks as preparing a meeting room or working on a church building (I Cor. 12:28; Rom. 12:7, 16:1,2 NKJV: I Pet. 4:10,11).

If you want to take the test, here is the link: http://elmertowns.com/spiritual_gifts_test/index.cfm?action=SPQ_instructions

Remember, praying is the most accurate way to find out your spiritual gift.

May God give you discernement!

Being a christian

I grew up in a pentecostal church and as far as I remember, my mom always brought my sister and me to church every sunday and as a child, we did not truly understand what was  going on, we knew that we had to stay calm, be nice and not talk to much. My mom would taught us little prayers, bible verses and songs.

When I became a little older, I truly wanted to please God in any way I could, I prayed with sincerity, I was not getting myself into troubles because I knew that He was watching. Then, came the teenage period along with my spiritual and philosophical questionning. During this period I had doubts about everything, and wanted somehow to rebel. My teenage years were not too difficult and I manage to get out of it without any major damage.

I never thought about following other religions, I do not know whether it’s because I was too afraid of trying something else or because I loved where I was. I had questions and sometimes I was comparing my religion to others, thinking about “advantages”  other religions had.

Now, that I am a young woman, part of my questionning have gone but some remains.  For example, I wonder if I had grew up in some other religion, would I have the same attitude, would I made the same choices? I doubt it , because I believe religion influences our choices but remember that the one who should influence our choices is Jesus. Only when following Jesus, we can make the good choices.

Being a christian is not a trend or an attitude, being a christian is a calling of the soul who long for something higher, something divine.  Everyone soul needs to be fulfill because an empty soul is dead.  Now, it depends on you to decide how are you going to fulfill your soul.

Being a christian requires that you fix your eyes on Jesus constantly, study His word, pray without ceasing.  Despite my choice to follow those wise words, I stumble so many times, mostly because I want to make my own choices, find solutions to my problems, and because I think that I can do everything by myself but this is just a big lie. I am lying to myself because even though I have some appreciable qualities, I am not a superhero. I need someone to have my back and the only one who does that perfectly is God.

Another mistake we always make is not knowing God’s will. We always pray about what we want but what about what God wants? His plans are much better than ours, even if our demands are legitimate, God wants to offer us more than what we ask for :

“Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, unto him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus unto all generations for ever and ever. ”  (Ephesians 3:20-21 ASV )

The best way to be a better christian is to let God work on us through the Holy Spirit and let His plan take shape in our lives.  He knows what our needs and desires and He got the best in store for us.
